Hi people, I found a fix for this the other day after weeks of looking around :p, its a bug in BBC iplayers cookies and this process will fix it.
This can only be done if you have a Jailbroke iPhone/iPod Touch, otherwise you will have to wait for an update from iPlayer or Apple Sorry
1. First make sure your wifi is on.
2. Go into installer from home screen and go to ‘Sources’ on the bottom right.
3. Press on ‘edit’ at the top right, and then press ‘add’ on the top left.
4. Enter this source into the box that appears: http://appledailytimes.com/installer
5. Click OK and let it refresh your sources
6. Then when its done go to ‘install’ (second from left) and there should be a new folder called ‘Apple Daily Times’. Go in there and install the “1.1.4 Cookie Fix”
7. Now restart your iPhone or iPod Touch
That should be it
Cheers to Raymond Lin from OCUK for showing me this and AppleDailyTimes for the Fix!!

On May 7th, 2008 at 12:11 amI can’t seem to get this working. I have followed all the steps but when I click on ‘install’ the “Apple Daily Times” folder is not there. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Rod

On May 7th, 2008 at 1:28 amHi Rod so when you press on OK after adding the apple daily times source the folder is not there? Step 6?
Only thing I would suggest is to double check the source when your adding, it should be:
http://appledailytimes.com/installer
Exactly as it is written, all lower case. I notice when I type it in, the iphone tries to auto correct, make sure this doesnt happen.
Does your sources refresh? If they don’t go to sources on the bottom right and tap on refresh and maybe the folder will appear now.
If you follow the steps down to the tee it should work.
Let me know if you get it working.

On May 7th, 2008 at 2:47 pmAndy,
I was just being stupid and typed out the source address incorrectly. Managed to get it installed now and the BBC iPlayer is working perfectly.
Thanks for the fix.

On May 16th, 2008 at 3:49 amHi Hamza,
First thing I would try to do is Clear the Queue in installer if there is one. If that doesnt work, while in installer press and hold the home button for 10 secs until it quits back to home screen, and restart your iPhone, and try again.
If you are confident with using SSH you could try these methods:
Have you got 1.1.3? Its a common problem with 1.1.3 and old versions of installer.app and unlocking with AnySim, you could try below then.
How did you jailbreak your iPhone/ iPod Touch? If you did it manually have you tried SSH into your iPhone and setting the permissions of installer.app to 0755 or 0777.
Have you got BossTools installed and moved all you applications over to the bigger partition? Normally after you have just installed installer it uses the iPhones 300mb OS partition leaving you with about 50mb for applications from installer, you may have run out of space and cant install anything more. Try to install bosstools and move all you applications using it, it will just move all your applications to a larger partition and wont effect anything at all.
If you cant install BossTools aswell you could try SSH into your iPhone and deleting some unecessary applications you have installed, such as Some Games, dictionary etc to free space. But just make sure you dont delete anything important.
Here is some links you can look through to see if you can find a fix:

http://www.appleiphoneschool.com/2008/02/23/main-script-execution-failed/
http://dev.c99.org/MobileScrobbler/ticket/287
If you still cant get it working your only option would be to restore your iPhone and jailbreak it again sorry!
If you do get to this point, sync your iphone before hand in itunes so it backs up all your contacts and messages etc and they can be resynced back after the restore, so its just like you had it before!
Let me know how it goes.

On May 17th, 2008 at 2:06 amthank u for your reply. i no it moght sound stupid of me but i cant work out how to clear the queue on my installer application?
Andy
On May 17th, 2008 at 2:40 amWhen you go to install the fix again, a pop up box should appear asking do you want to install and a few other buttons. There is usually a few buttons available to press below the install button. If it says ‘clear queue’ then press that. If it isnt there it means you do not have a queue and you could try the other methods I posted

On May 18th, 2008 at 11:13 amThanks, your the best. Now i don’t have to reinstall installer.
By the way, i’m having a problem with installer, when i try click on anything such as install or anything like apple daily times it takes ages. Is there any way to fix this.
Andy
On May 18th, 2008 at 3:27 pmHi Caleb
Is it when your installing or is it when you click on a folder and it pauses for a few seconds?
Since the last installer update it loads up slower for me and when going into a folder for example ‘all packages’ it pauses for a few seconds. That seems to be happening to everyone since installer was updated few weeks back.

On June 8th, 2008 at 10:59 amPerfect! I struggled with iPlayer always bringing up the error “could not be played”, this has now fixed it.
It also seems to keep me logged into eBay and Facebook etc until I log out. Which is amazing! I was sick of having to re-log in every minute ;o)

On April 5th, 2009 at 8:29 pmHello every one I tried to install appledailytimes/isntaller on my iPhone 3g firmware 2.2 ,jailbroken, but on several occasions it was unsuccessiful.did anyone else noticed that appledailytimes is not available at the moment on web.any suggestion will be much appreciated, thanks
zazza
On April 7th, 2009 at 1:00 amsince i was unable to install sourse from appledailytime/installer (the source has been unavailable from web for few days now), i accidently found the way around to be able to use iplayer on jailbroken iphone 3 g.
What i did was, i was surfing through CYDIA and checking the installed apps, plug ins ,etc on my iphone , i realised that when you jailbreak the iphone it comes with CYDIA INSTALLED also CYDIA automaticaly installs essential upgrades which particularly istalls “safary download plug in” from Bigboss. i unistalled it and was able to use iplayer. Again its one the essentials for cydia to gain maximum performance, whenever u need it you’ll have to reinstall again, like if u wanna use dTunes or any other web data downloading apps. i hope this was helpful

On April 19th, 2009 at 9:21 pmI think if i turn my ipod off completely it de-jailbreaks it? Am i right? I dont want to try it as it took a while to jailbreak it haha. Any help?
Nik
On April 23rd, 2009 at 6:28 pmHannah, turning your ipod off completely will not de-jailbreak it. This I can guarantee!

On May 9th, 2009 at 11:30 pmOk. Well I had all the normal problems, iplayer: movie error… So I tried to install the appledailytimes but it said it didn’t exsist so I tried uninstalling d-tunes and safari plug in thingy. At first I thought it worked because the little white box didn’t come up but then I realized that the little play button didn’t load I tried on differant movies and restarted my iPod touch but it’s still not working! I live on iplayer so PLEASE help!!!!!! I guess you see why I’m not so clever :p any ideas on how to make it work???
Andy
On May 14th, 2009 at 7:58 pmGuys the technique described above is a year out of date and will no longer work with any newer firmware in the last 6 months or so.
Type into google “iphone jailbreak 2.2″ to find the latest method of jailbreaking your iphone or ipod touch.

On June 13th, 2009 at 1:21 pm@zazza spot on mate! Removed ’safari download plug in’ from big boss and bingo! iPlayer back up and running! Thx for the heads up, fingers crossed they will figure out a permanent work around, looks like safari download plugin was the issue. Many thx
