On November 17th, 2007 at 11:22 amDam i downloaded 1.1.2.on my iphone can i still download app snapp
Andy
On November 17th, 2007 at 2:27 pmHi there Kenneth
There is a method out now that allows you to get app snapp on your iphone but you first must downgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1. To do this try this link for details http://jailbreakme.com/1.1.2/
Its not currently an automatic method and not completely safe, but after you have downgraded you can just go to jailbreakme.com as usual and it will jailbreak and install installer.app automatically for you.
I would wait for another while until a new hack comes out. Good Luck!

On November 20th, 2007 at 4:38 amhey andy i tried to fallow the steps to downgrading but it wont do it?
Andy
On November 20th, 2007 at 4:35 pmHi Chris
Did you follow these steps:
Step 1: Downgrade to 1.1.1 (if required)
*** NOTE: This guide does not guarantee it will work 100%. Also errors 1015 is expected at
the end of the process. Continue reading to understand. ***
1. Download the 1.1.1 ipsw firmware file from Apple. If the downloaded file has the extension
“.zip”, please remove it and modify it to end up with a filename ending in _Restore.ipsw
2. Reboot your iPhone holding the top (power) and home buttons BUT release the top button 10
seconds into it (right after the screen goes dark) and continue to hold the home button until
iTunes detects the phone in recovery mode. The iPhone screen will appear to be off, but start
iTunes if not started yet .
3. Restore your iPhone by pressing and holding the ‘Shift’ key on windows or ‘option’ key on Mac,
then click ‘restore’ to select the 1.1.1 firmware file you downloaded earlier. The restore should
go through and errors at the end with error 1015. However you will notice that the iphone is in
DFU mode with the connect to itunes screen from 1.1.1.
4. In order to kick the phone out of that mode I just had to launch iNdependence version 1.2.5
and wait a minute or so. If you are using iTunes 7.5 you will have to get a MobileDevice from a
previousv version in order to run Independence.
- If iNdependence is not available or you are on a Windows machine, download a working copy of
iPhuc and issue the following commands:
cmd setenv auto-boot true
cmd saveenv
cmd fsboot
I myself have not downgraded I have 1.1.1, its pretty complicated downgrading though, I would advise you to be pateint and wait for a more simple jailbreak, like that of jailbreakme.com for 1.1.1 when it came out.
I will be posting news when theres a new method to jailbreak 1.1.2, so check back soon!

On November 21st, 2007 at 2:10 pmhi, how can i install the installer software for iphone if my firmware is 1.0.2?
Andy
On November 21st, 2007 at 6:20 pmhi jb
If you have firmware 1.0.2 (old firmware) you actually are recommended to update it to 1.1.1 but this may be hard, you may have to find the older firmware from somewhere as getting it from apple and itunes its at 1.1.2 currently which cant have app installer at all.
There may be a SSH method out there which involves connecting your iPhone to PC to get an older firmware on it.
Then When you do get it on 1.1.1 then on your iPhone simply open safari and go to jailbreakme.com and click on install appsnapp and it is all automatic from there.
Have fun!

On November 27th, 2007 at 1:17 pmHi Hector
I think you have read it wrong lol. You just need 300mb of free disk space on your PC to run the jailbreak. It wont take 300mb off your iPhone!
Check this link that applies to iPhones too: http://www.touchdev.net/wiki/Jailbreak_1.1.2

On December 1st, 2007 at 3:29 amHi Hector
Sorry for not getting back to you, been bit busy lately ><.
I have know expeirience doing this process, sorry Hector! I have no idea why its deleting it off you PC. Does it not go into recovery mode any time? Remeber to rename the restore file to end in _Restore.ipsw.
Good luck with it. There doesnt seem to be an easy way to jailbreak 1.1.2 at the minute. Hopefully a easy automatic method will come out soon.

On December 7th, 2007 at 12:37 amhey i need help i really wanna make my ipod touch jailbreak but iam so cofused about all kinds of programs and web can u help me out
thank u for ur time
by the way do is the same steps for ipod touch and iphone?
Andy
On December 7th, 2007 at 2:37 amHi Diego c,
I’ll try to help you :). First of all what is your Firmware version? If it is 1.1.1, things will be really easy just go to jailbreakme.com on your iPod Touch and press “install appSnapp”. If 1.1.2 then there is the hard method I posted a few comments back, you can try it but I have no expeierence doing that method sorry!
When you jailbreak you iPod touch you will get an application that appears on your ipods screen called installer.app, running this brings up a list of applications, with new apps being added all the time. You then simply choose the applications you want to install and the application is installed and a shortcut added to your iPods desktop, all automatically over wifi.
Yes the methods for iphone and ipod touch are generally the same.

Andy
On January 2nd, 2008 at 4:24 amHi Karl,
I’m sorry Karl but I have no expierence downgrading. I got my ipod on 1.1.1. Make Sure you have a strong wifi signal on your touch when doing it. Try setting your auto-lock in settings>general to “never” before doing it, it might be automatically disconnecting wifi, it will never go off if you have the automatic lock off. Have you tried restoring it via itunes and doing it over again?
If you still have problems try the ipodtouchfans forum, you may need to register though.
Good Luck!!

Andy
On January 2nd, 2008 at 9:45 pmHi David,
Theres nothing to worry about on 1.1.1 you can always restore your iphone back to factory settings using itunes. As your on 1.1.1 all you have to do is to go to jailbreakme.com on your iphone and click on install app snapp and its all done.
Kris
On January 14th, 2008 at 4:53 amI followed all the unlocking steps but when I selected jailbreakme.com on my phone to start the install…. the page would not open…there was a little dot in the top right hand corner of the screen… the address bar was not loading as usuall… what the hell?? if I could get the app.snap thing to install it would be all gravy but its not… what did I do wrong… how do i fix it?

On February 3rd, 2008 at 1:03 pmExcuse me, but does anyone know whether this software works with 1.1.3 on the iPod touch? Apparently I am desperate to download 3rd party apps on my iPod… Thanks.
Andy
On February 7th, 2008 at 12:01 amhi James,
If your iPod Touch came with 1.1.3 or you updated it to 1.1.3 via iTunes there curently is no way to get 3rd party apps via installer.app yet. Sorry!

On March 28th, 2008 at 9:45 pmI downloaded appsnapp and when i tryed to download applications it said the there was a error that said Package download failed! what should i do?
Andy
On March 28th, 2008 at 10:54 pmHi Pat,
Sometimes it does this, it could be a number of things.
Firstly make sure you have a good wifi connection.
Also sometimes the packages can be out of date and there is newer ones available, so go to the sources category under install and try installing all the sources in there. If you find you have duplicate applications at this point dont worry just simply install the most up to date one by looking at the version of each when you press on them.
It could also be that its on your install queue, when you try to install something next time, press clear queue or remove from queue, then restart installer and try installing again.
Finally it could be that simply the server the files are being downloaded from are busy or down for maintanence, this happened to me a few days ago. Myself and many others on various forums could not install BSD Subsytem or Summerboard and had the exact same error as you. If you feel it is this then you can install another source and download it from that. Do this by going to Sources (the bottom right button) hit ‘edit’ and then ‘Add’. Then enter in this as a source
iappcat.com/r/4515
Then all apps should be under ‘Baldz Source’ in the install screen and install from there. Ive used this source myself numerous times when I get this error. I truely think it is just their servers causing this error most of the time as it tends to fix itself the next day or so.
Hope this helps

On April 3rd, 2008 at 6:12 amI tried to download from app snapp but a blue question shows up and it don’t download.
Andy
On April 3rd, 2008 at 7:57 amHi Jesse,
First of all what firmware version are you on. That app snapp is quite an old method now and is only for firmware 1.1.1.
If you want you can use ziphone to do it all for you, it works flawlessy with the most up to date firmware 1.1.4. Take a look at my first article on the main page. It seems long but its not, the whole process takes a few minutes.

On June 1st, 2008 at 4:32 pmcan you downgrade from1.1.4 without a computer to 1.1.1
bobby
On June 17th, 2008 at 2:54 amcan I down grade a 1.1.4
Andy
On June 17th, 2008 at 8:47 pmhi Bobby,
Is there any particular reason why you want to downgrade from 1.1.4?
This method posted here is pretty old and you can jailbreak and unlock 1.1.4 using ziphone its real easy and its better than any other firmware as you can jalbreak and unlock the latest 1.1.4 firmware.
On the other hand if you really need to downgrade you can download the particular firmware version you want from apple in the form of a .ispw file. You can look around the internet for these files from apple or download them from here:
http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=6
If the download comes with a .zip extension rename it .ispw
Connect your iPhone or iPod Touch, hold down “alt” (or option on a mac) in itunes then click restore and choose the ispw file you downloaded earlier.
Think that should do it. but I would encourage you to try ziphone as its the best at the minute and works on the latest firmware.

On June 23rd, 2008 at 8:43 pmi am really confused… my thing is 1.1.4. what must i do to get jailbreak on my iPod touch?????????:S
Andy
On June 23rd, 2008 at 9:31 pmHi Rebecca,
It’s really simple on 1.1.4 now, this article is a bit out of date and this method no longer works with 1.1.2+ firmware.
The simplest way is to download ziphone from http://download.ziphone.org/ and unzip it to your desktop. Connect you ipod Touch to your PC and in that ZiPhone folder there should be ZiPhoneGUI.exe double click it and press jailbreak and let it do its thing.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask

On July 13th, 2008 at 6:39 pmHi there,
Are you trying to install appsnapp to jailbreak 1.1.1? This method is pretty old and I’m not sure if it still works. I personally have not come across this before.
Is there any particular reason why you downgraded? You can more easily jailbreak 1.1.4 with ziphone and 1.1.4 is a better firmware.
If you need any more info about getting 1.1.4 and how to jailbreak it post back a comment and I will give you the steps.
If you want to stay on 1.1.1 I can’t help you sorry
